What does “vegetable-tanned” mean?

This pedag product is made of vegetable-tanned leather, so you can enjoy exceptional comfort. Natural tanning agents such as the bark of the chestnut tree, the quebracho tree (a South American species particularly rich in tannins), or the mimosa make the leather durable, flexible, and long-lasting.

As a natural product, leather has tangible properties: like our own skin, it is absorbent, breathable, and durable. This allows leather soles to comfortably regulate the microclimate inside the shoe and keep your feet dry.

We have every batch of leather tested by a certified German testing institute to ensure it is free of harmful substances in accordance with DIN EN ISO 17070:2015-05 and DIN EN ISO 17075-1:2017-05. The testing institute is certified by DAkkS (German Accreditation Body), the national accreditation authority of the Federal Republic of Germany.
